How They Work
Because the internal temperatures of containers and trucks can reach 40°C and beyond during the day, It is critical to keep the products being shipped separated from the radiant heat above. How to reduce radiant heat gain using a thermal blanket: For a radiant barrier to work, it must have an air gap on one side. The bubble layer of the thermal blanket provides a small air gap, so the aluminum's very high reflective properties can work properly. Insulating blankets placed on top of the cargo in shipping containers or freight trucks have proven to be very effective at preventing heat infiltrating to the goods underneath (see graph).
